Anyone with children will know how difficult it can be to buy bedroom furniture. You need furniture that is practical, functional, and affordable and that your child will like, you also need to choose furniture that will grow with your child. You will need to research different furniture before purchasing it to decide what will suit your tastes and budget.
There is no point in buying expensive furniture that looks cute when they are a baby but won't store larger clothes or hangers. We all love the look of themed bedroom furniture, but will your son be as keen sleeping in a train bed when they are in their teenage years. As your child will be spending the most amount of time in their room, you should ask them what they want. Many children have great ideas of room designs, and if they like their rooms then they are more likely to keep them tidy. You will need as mush storage as possible, you can never have too much when you have children.

Storage and box units are a great idea; if you give your child an individual box for everything then they will be able to keep the room tidy. You need to try and use every space available, so beds with drawers and cabin beds are ideal as the space under them can be used as storage. Theme rooms always seem like a good idea when your child asks for them, there are so many different themes to choose from but they are often expensive. Also your child will grow out of it very quickly; you are better off buying one or two main pieces of furniture which are timeless and classic and then decorating in a theme.
You need to ensure that you buy age appropriate furniture, cabin beds and bunk beds are great but if your child is too young for them then they could have an accident. Ensure that all the furniture you buy is sturdy and child friendly, this furniture will get more use than other furniture so you want to make sure it is built to last. Buying a bed which is slightly too big for your child is a good idea as they will grow into it, and you need to consider how tall drawers and wardrobes are. If the rail for their clothes is too high then they won't put their clothes away as they cannot reach, try to buy an adjustable rail so it can be raised as your child grows.
When deciding which pieces of furniture to purchase you need to decide how much stuff your child has, a bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and a box unit are all essential. You can then add more bookcases and shelves depending on if you need them. If you teach your child that everything has a place, and how to put everything way then they will hopefully keep it tidy. If you give them a place to store things then they will be able to find their favorite toy quicker the next time they want it. With tidy rooms there is more time to play, and this is always good.
